Devotional Scripture

Romans 5:7-8 NET: Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person [or a friend] someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

I f God never did another thing for us in this life, He has done all love requires for our sake.

Do we sulk when we believe we are in need? Do we complain to God when we feel lonely or unloved? Look back to the cross and remember that Jesus took our punishment there. He, though perfect, laid down His life for all of us who are imperfect. Let's not cop to the "what have you done for me lately" attitude with God. He has nothing left to prove. With grateful hearts, let's go to Him in the good times and the bad times.

God broke open His heart and poured out the treasure of Heaven to redeem us. It took the best of His love to reach down and rescue us. Because of His great love, the best for us is always yet to come.

Prayer for the Day

Father, You have done all love requires for me. Help me to never question how much You love me. Give me a grateful heart knowing that I will dwell in Your presence forever because of the best of Your love. Create in me this same kind of love that acts on behalf of others so they can experience Your gracious and loving heart. For Jesus' sake, Amen.
